Hi There,

I am working on quite a large project with a 600 line proramme.

We have had several restructures of the programme and every time the programme shifts, I have to move a repeated unit of work (a section of cabling) and re do all of the links between each work section. Takes ages and it feels inefficient.

Is there a better way to do this?

For example

I have a task CABLE INSTALLATION
with subtasks

EXCAVATE
SET UP CABLE DRUM
INSTALL BACK FILL

every time I rearrange the order of the sections I need to re do manually the links between the Back fill and jointing, the excavation and the next section excavation. etc.

Hope thats a clear explanation of the problem.

Thanks in advance.

Hi WhiteyWhitey,

It sounds like there is a constraint set on Back fill and/or jointing.

Look in the indicator column in the task sheet or click on the task and go to the 'Advanced' tab. Set the task to start 'as soon as possible'.

I have written an article on constraints which you might find useful.
Kind regards

Not really. If you have the correct linking, everything should move to right ot left as expected. Can you post an example sheet?
