Hello all,

Could you please explain the meaning of the following warning message - 'Mapping of the generated node XYZ to the closest model element ABC is not successful -- the nodel iso-coordinates are ...'. This warning is seen in an XFEM analysis.

Thank you in advance,

Vishakh.

Hello Mr. FEA way, thank you for the reply.

My crack is not aligned with any of the element edges. Please see the image attached.

As per the thread you mentioned, the crack should not be aligned with the element edges. Even with my case as well, the crack is not aligned with the element edges. Despite this, the above warning message is seen.

Best Regards,

Vishakh.

Apart from the warning, does the analysis work correctly (is the crack created and propagated there) ?

Hello Mr. FEA way, thank you for the reply.

No, the Stress Intensity Factor results are very bad and there is no convergence (meaning there are great oscialltions between the SIF predicted by the contours 3,4 and 5).
