Hi all, is there a "professional" term for the following structure:

It is used as a support to hold certain loads (parts of heavy equipment etc) after they have been dismantled. It's just a temporary support while waiting for the maintenance work to be carried out. The red part is the main rod where the load will sit, while the black lines are the 4 legs that spread the load.

I dont care what language you speak. In english, I'm with "cammax" it's a GANTRY.
Put wheels on it it's a movable gantry.

Horse or Trestle!
An A-frame and a Gantry should have the loads suspended below, whereas the trestle and horse support above. I made that up but it seems sooo right to me.

And I'd like to make a stand on this point. (guffaw)

It’s a gantry but a few of my mechanics have called it a swingset. It has an aluminum I beam for a cross bar.

An "equipment stand"?
"temporary support stand"?

Specialised supports can have particular names; an "engine stand" would be a stable supprt to which the engine block can be bolted which allows the engine to be rotated to various angles for access.

Is there a reson that it matters?
Is this part of an instruction set being put together for maintenance? If so, I assume it then has to have a set of specifications attached as to load bearing, safety etc.
If so, perhaps it is more important to know what the maintenace team would call it and use their language - it may save ambiguities...

So, now we have:

- Horse
- Sawhorse
- Trestle (sounds professional) or tressel
- A frame Support
- Gantry crane or gantry support
- Swingset
- Equipment stand

Hmm...choices, choices...

Regards,
DD
