Probably a silly question. What is the purpose of the Delete Body command in NX9?

It probably has a good target customer but I saw it and wasn't sure what it was there for. Might be a cool function I am missing. I am just upgrading from NX7.5.

Thanks all!

Say you have multiple bodies in an NX part file and you do not wish to delete a body forever, you can apply a Delete Body feature to one of the bodies which would then allow you to suppress this feature and bring the body back or delete the Delete Body feature and the body will reappear.

In a nutshell, it's a "do over".

If you have a webkey account, I'd recommend downloading the What's New guides for all NX versions you're skipping - or look up the command in the Help documentation, as it should be outlined there.

This may be hard to believe, but there are paranoids out there who occasionally end up being given the task of writing design office standards and on more then one occasion I've seen where someone has written an edict stating that a part file can contain only a single solid body, period. In other words, you can't have any hidden solid bodies or bodies on an invisible layer. Sometimes they even go so far as to ban any hidden surfaces/sheet bodies as well, which can be very problematic if you need to use a surface/sheet to trim a solid body or some other surface/sheet body.

Also, many time translators are unable to determine the difference between hidden and non-hidden bodies so again, what is needed is some sort of scheme with will allow an object to be deleted without removing it from the 'history' of the model. Therefore we developed the new 'Delete Body' function which will, for all intents and purposes, delete a body from a model yet do so without interfering with any histories that that body might participate in. It's sort of like an operation which gives the ability to pretend that a body no longer exists, at least not at the current time stamp, but yet allow it exist during some previous timestamp. In others words, it's like NOT having your cake but still being able to eat it.
