That's all I can say.

I think my FEA time just got halved by installing this new version.

what's so impressive ? ... ok, the GUI is different, but not, IMHO, not so fantastic ...

and then there was April 1st ... i wonder what other easter eggs await ?

rb1957,

I like the non manifold add function, which has me wondering much less about whether or not my adjacent surfaces will be actually connected.

I also think the washer/offset curves command is awesome and is really useful for improving meshes around openings easily.

But the coolest, for my money, is the meshing toolbar, with on the fly mesh regens, by just choosing curves after having spec'd the number of nodes on those curves.

Until this version, I hardly ever approached surface meshing by selecting individual curves and specifying qty's of elements/nodes, and then blindly remeshing.

It simply was not as intuitive as it is now.

I am really impressed, given that I commonly model plate structures with stiffeners (stressed skin).

I suppose some of the features were technically already there, but now, they're packaged in a way that is conducive to practically using them.

Hi

Since April 1st was mentioned.

Has anybody had any problems with Femap regarding that problem? I haven't seen anything regarding that in Femap.

As for v10, I think there is some great improvments. There is room for more but UGS/SIEMENS are definetly working on it in my opinion.

? ... for us it stopped dead in it's tracks, untill we installed the patch from the Siemens site the next day ... now it's a happy program again.

Guys,

I have found another very cool function:

In the meshing toolbar, go to the Mesh Locate part, and you select a surface(s), then dynamically move a node around, while it is still fully attached to curves/surfaces. Then, when you want something even neater, check the "mesh smoothing" box, and again move a node around. You'll see adjacent nodes get pulled as if you're pulling on a net.

And if that's not enough, turn on the "quality" plot, and watch the elements' color change as you dynamically move the nodes around. Once they're all green, it's a "good" mesh.

This is too much fun...

That was odd. I thought it was NX/MSC Nastran only. I have a "pure" installation of Femap since I use NEiNastran and I have not seen the effects of the "bug".

Anyway, I'm glad that Femap is "happy" again for you to.

As for the new meshing toolbox. I think its excellent. I lot of small improvements that makes meshing mush faster and simpler. Not that it was bad but now it's better.
