Does the use of corrugated tubes(i mean - corrugation carried out by indention and not finned) in a shell and tube type heat exchanger reduce the Heat Transfer Area?[ul][li]If yes, why?[/ul][/li][ul][li]Where can I get additional information on this subject?[/ul][/li]

Yes corrugated tubes reduces the HTA in a heat exchanger because of the increase in the Heat Transfer Coefficient.
The HTC increases on account of the turbulance that is created due to the indents inside the tubes.

Manufacturers of these type of Heat Exchangers claim that there is a reduction of atleast 30% in HTA (at cost of pressure drop?)
