Unit pressurization time

Dear All,

we do have the particular compressor system, connected to the gas/oil separator throgh the pipework. Before starting up the compressor unit (which consists of the three scrubbers, two coolers and two compressor' casings) should be pressurized by opening small 2" by-pass gas line from separator (the gas is flowing through 2" globe Fisher valve). The initial pressures in separator and in compresor unit (basically atmosphere) are known. How can we calculate the time, essential to presurize the comprssor unit till separator pressure. The volume of the unit is known as well. I'd assume some integration method must be used?!

It's essentially the reverse operation of blowdown or depressuring. If you do a keyword search on the site, there was quite an extensive discussion on it not that long ago.

Take a look at thread124-17301 and thread378-49081. The process in your case is reversed but the procedure would be the same. I'd simply set up a spreadsheet and work it out.
