I have a 2007 mustang and when I start the engine, the TPMS light comes on for 3 seconds (normal) and then starts flashing for 30 seconds and goes out (not normal). The shop manual says it should come on for 3 seconds and go out. Thge light doesn't come on at any point when I'm driving. If I stop and turn the engine off and then turn the key to on or start it, it sometimes does the above or it just behaves normally with the light just coming on for 3 seconds and going out. If I let it sit for a while, it will always go throught the above 3 seconds on and then 30 seconds flashing before turning off.

The dealer has retrained the tire sensors ( they all work) and checked for faults codes (none show).

The shop manual does not cover this symptom in its diagnostic procedures. The only symptoms they cover the TPMS light staying on after flashing for 70 to 75 seconds.

Any ideas?

Have you checked your tyre pressure.

Thanks, but the dealer fixed it yesterday. He had to go into the Smart Junction Box to retrained the sensors instead of the normal route.

Maybe the system wasn't calibrated right the first time or you may have a weak sensor. It might happen again.
