Hello, everyone. Hopefully you can help me out.

I am modifying our company's title block in order to make things go more smoothly in the future. I have already created callouts to auto-fill with drawing number, part number, etc. from the property manager, which is perfect. What I am looking for is a way to put a 'click and type' text box onto the background sheet that I can change from the working view. For example, being able to simply click into the date field of the title block to type the date or clicking the revision number field to enter the revision. Using a text box on the background sheet works great besides the fact that it's not editable from the working view. This post is getting rather lenghty so hopefully my idea is getting across.
Let me know if there is anything I can clarify.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The way to do this is by using Callouts and Property Text.

You will set up Custom Properties (File Properties -> Custom tab) for all the information you want on the background sheet.
Then you can use the Callout to link the Property Text to the Custom property.
(Use a <space> for null/blank inputs.)

After you update your file properties with: date, revision, drawn by, checked by, approved, etc. you may have to "Update All" to see the change to the face of the drawing. Saving often refreshes property text as does opening the file.

For rev we pull through the default file property from models to populate the title block (we have to manually fudge it for the rare 2D drawing).

For the other stuff you could indeed use either existing or custom file properties in either the model or the drawing as most appropriate.

Our approach however is that for some title block information such as 'engineer', 'drawn' etc. & revision details we use text blocks in the background sheet.

To avoid the border etc. being incorrectly edited these entities are locked. We do it by putting them on a layer which is locked but you can also create a group that is locked.

Alternatively in the template you could have text blocks in the working sheet aligned to the background.
