Scenario:
You have an assembly (A001.asm), and you need to replace a part (P001.prt)with a new model (P002.prt). In the past, you would make a new model, and RELPACE it, and then REDEFINE the failed constraints.
Solution:
In the assembly, pick the part (P001.prt) that needs to be replaced, and right-click the mouse, select REPLACE.
Pick the option BY NEW COPY and enter a new part name (P002.prt). This allows the new part to automatically replace the original part without redefining constraints. You now have 2 identical, but unrelated parts.
Now you can open the new part and modify it at will.
