Hello all,
Recently I have been asked by my company to start learning abaqus. So I have been going throuugh some problems that have recently been solved by hand and trying to model them.
One thing I can't quite figure out is how to model a problem for thermal stress. My problem is a hollow cylinder where half of it is fit snugly into a rigid body and the other half is free. It is then subjected to a 40 degree temperature increase through out. I need to find the stresses caused by the expansion of the cylinder.
Can anyone help me out with this? I assume its a coupled thermal-displacement problem, but is it really a heat transfer problem in Abaqus? I'm really lost on it at this point.
