Woofar - didn't want you to be left out with all the talk about American football - damn, the colts lost . . .

See that you should have an easy time of it in jolly England for the Ashes. Apparently the English squad is nearly decimated in morale and morals!!! Never though Pieterson should have been captain anyway. I miss being able to see the cricket in Indon - had a great run of it when I was in India.

G'day Howard,

Wow, I didn't know that anyone from North America knew anything about cricket.

Our team is in a minor crisis at the moment. After 15 years of total world domination, we have suffered a bit of a fall from grace over the past year. Due mainly to the retirements of some of the games greatest ever players. We do have a great stock of young talent and I don't think it will be too long before the team returns to it's former lofty heights.

I agree about Pieterson, definitely not captain material. England keep making the same mistake when it comes to the captaincy. Flintoff was a prime example, if they had of just left him as Freddy the tearaway fast bowler, he would have helped them to tremendous success. Instead the burden of captaincy just dragged him down.

As always I'm really looking forward to the Ashes.
Like you say, I don't think we'll have much trouble in England, but one of the beauties of cricket is it's unpredictability. The last time we went to England, on paper and form and according to all the experts(and us fans), Australia was going to romp in easily.

Unfortunately we lost!!
It was by no means a convincing win by England, however, the record books still show that England won the "Ashes" in 2005.

Such is Life!!!(and cricket)

Cheers
Michael

Woofar - was in a small Thai open air restaurant last night in Hua Hin and the guy sitting next to us played cricket in England. His "fame" he said was that when Vivian Richards played against them (county sides when Viv was about 18 or so), they bowled him out for 12 - but then he bowled them out for less !!! [bigsmile] Interesting guy, though. He thinks that the Ashes might be pretty interesting in that both squads are, well, down in the doldrums.

Ahh yes, the mighty Viv Richards, the Master Blaster, it was a joy to watch that man play cricket, he had it all. Doing a websearch reveals that Viv was 19 when he made his First-Class debut for the Leeward Islands and he was 22 when he played his first County game for Somerset.

The years and beers may have shrouded your new friends memory a little, but who cares about the details, getting Viv out for a paltry 12 is something worth bragging about until your retirement home days.

Cheers
Michael
