What are the types of template used to check Profile of bending during plate rolling process

UG 80 (a1), UG (a2) and UG 80 (b) and Figure UG-29.2 of ASME Sec Viii Div 1. This is for checking the profile of the generally used shapes in a pressure vessel when external pressure is present, in addition UG 81 is also applicable. For items under internal pressure, UG 80 (a1) UG (a2), UG 81

The template that is used by the bending machine operator and the template used for checking the profile of the skelp after bending and the template used for checking the shell course in tacked condition and after welding has the same curvature profile. While the chordal length of the template used during the bending/forming operation may be shorter, using the code sized template is perfectly alright and has worked thus far.

The template during rolling is to the inside radius of the shell (for convenience of the operator), but (in general) for completed vessels it is to the outside radius (to avoid confined space for the inspector).

Not necessarily.
Most of the time ID template is prepared.
Most vessels and heat exchangers are ID matched with the adjacent shells and hence ID templates are widely used. OD template is used only when there is a pronounced concaving dimple on the surface.

Making the template for ID or OD is the same, it just depends on convenience for inspection, and not whether the ID matches the adjacent shell.
