Suggestions on HCl monitor

Hello, we had a large release of TiCl4 at work due to a pipe failure and we were unable to identify the leak for 10 minutes due to fog.
TiCl4 when in contact with air/moinsture releases HCl. I was wondering if somebody would have a suggestion of a suitable HCl monitor I could use for TiCl4 leak detection?

A photo electric smoke (not ionization) detector would be your best bet. But, I am not sure how this will help. You knew you had a leak but say that you could not see it. Do you mean that you want to detect a tiny, incipient leak before there is visible smoke?

HCl specific electrochemical point monitors are available. Are you looking for an open-path monitor to monitor a whole area? If so, it would likely be IR driven and hence you'd have to investigate whether or not the fog (presumably you mean natural fog, not fog as a result of the reaction of TiCl4 with atmospheric water) would obscure the beam.
