That is a very broad question. What specifically are you looking for? NFPA 13, Chapter 8 outlines procedures for sprinkler calculations as far as what is required on working drawings. Other books are available by Gagnon, Bryan, and Broman that go into greater detail.

Firsly, you need to know how to use the K value. It is the same as mechanical engineers use as Cv of valves.

Cv=gpm/√psi K=gpm/√psi

gpm=Cv*√psi gpm=Cv*√psi

psi=(gpm/Cv) psi=(gpm/Cv)

Second, You have to use the Hanzen-Willians pipe friction losses.

4.52 * Q1.85
p=________________
C1.85 * d1.87

where: P= Loss in psi per ft.
Q=gpm
C=Friction loss coefficient (c=120)
d=Inside diameter.

Now, you can look at pages from 13-247 to 249 of NFPA 13.

NFPA has a handbook titled "Automatic Sprinkler Systems" 1996/seventh edition.

It is an EXCELLENT reference. Not only does it have code text, but also explanatory notes and examples.

Chapter 6 deals with Plans and Calculations (Pipe Schedule and Hydraulic Calcualtions Methodes).

I greatly suggest you get yourself a copy. It will pay for itself in not time.

Regards
