I am looking to find the amount of compression that a spacer made out of 1074 strip steel can withstand. Basically it is used in a plastic housing to protect the plastic from crushing when a bolt is tightend down. In this particular case the spacer would be about .295 diameter with a wall thickness of .020 thick.
I would like to know the formula for figuring out the amount of load. I have been doing some investigating on-line and have not found anything that I see that I can use in this instance. I know it will have to do with the material tensile strenght and its yield strength.
Help on this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
