Is there any way to disable the preview display? (The bitmap image) or at least have the default automatically show the e-drawings view. The bitmap image sometimes take a long time to load especially if it is an AutoCAD drawing or if it is a unrecognized format. Sometimes it even crashes. I've tried moving my temporary viewing directory to different locations with no luck.

In Solidworks, go into 'Tools' -> 'Options' -> 'General'
Un-Click "Show Thumbnail Graphics in Windows Explorer".

This should put the generic solidworks part/drawing images instead of the thumbnail preview. This only affects the images you see when you 'Open File' through Solidworks.

If you open the actual folders using Windows Explorer it will still display the thumbnail previews.

Hope this answers your question.

Slight Correction to my previous post:

If you Un-Check the box as noted above,

When you re-boot your computer the change will affect all of the thumbnails in the Windows Explorer folders as well.

No that didn't seem to work. The bitmap image still shows up in Solidworks Explorer. It may not be that image that is slowing down the program though. It only seems to do it on the first search and then every other one after that works shows the image immediately. Until you close the program and reopen it again.
