I have two Machines say a moxel x and a model y
the PLC programs used in both are the same but the machines are diffrent sizes, the motor sizes and options are diffrent.

I have it set-up that all of the model spec's reside in F8 data.

when I download a program from model x via my laptop into the model y PLC I do not want the ModelY-F8 data overwritten with the ModelX-F8 data. I want to be able to change the F8 data via a panel view installed on another port

Just need to be able to have one program and dump it in to mutiply machines but not change any F8 machine specific data such as model number, serial number, date installed, options specific to each machine, I have over 1000 machines in the US of varoius sizes - and options - but same function

Does this make sence, is it possiable

Please advise - thanks in advance

What you say makes sense and I know of no way to exclude overwriting specific file. I would suggest storing values for different models in different files, the selecting which file to use from the panelview, then copy the settings to the F8 file for use.
