Simple Piping

Hi all,

This is going to sound a simple question, but how do I create a simple pipe using the proper piping command? At the mo I create them using an array of datums points, a curve thru latter and then a sweep with the tube's section along said curve.

I see many models of pipes where there is just a single feature (a small cube with "Pipe id #") replacing the curve and sweep. I have had a fiddle with the piping command but end up creating lots of seemingly unnecesary features instead of just a simple single 'pipe'.

Can any one just tell me what the basic flow of commands are to achieve a simple pipe through an existing array of points?

Many thanks,

Jon Reynolds

It's been awhile since I've done it & I don't have Pro/E in front of me right now but I think you just create the point array, start the pipe feature & select the datum point array. It asks you for a few things like solid or hollow, common or variable bend radii, etc. Nice feature but be sure to put ti on a layer you can blank, otherwise you will find the pipe centerline showing up in all you drawings.

Thats how it sounds like it should work to me, but I get a bit confused...

Its seems I need to be in an assembly first...Can I not just be in an individual part to create the pipe in, if I know the array of points required?

In the assembly I get hit with the piping menu:

active asm
component
pipeline...
etc

and its not very clear from here how I create a simple pipe feature within one of the parts in the assembly that already has the array of points waiting to be used?

Cheers.

OK,

Sorry but I have figured it out...it was as simple as I thought it should be. Pro/Engineer help is pretty poor I have always thought.

All I was after was the Insert>Advanced>Pipe feature, which is available in just a normal part... no need to go into the fancy Piping module in an assembly.

Thanks anyway!

Hai this raj
iam looking for Analysis of Bifurcation Part which i modelled in pro-e and also i want an analysis method in ANSYS-10 .So i want someone to guide me to do the analysis Part.
Iam also giving input values for My Analysis
Solid Type: solid Brick node 8
Material Type :ASTM-A_517 Grade F,so for that Youngs Modulus:2.1 x 10 E10 N/m2 and Poission ratio=0.3

Please exlain me the mesh type in solving the part. the main thing in this part is the variable to reduce the stress developed in the structure is the thicknes of the plate placed in between the two conical pipes. So please give the thicknees of the plate which will susutain the Stress developed.

The Pressure load is 9360 KN/m2
Constraints are:At both the ends of pipe it is ALL DOF
and Bottom Portion UY is arrested
So please give me the reply.
