Is there guide line help me to select proper type of sensor in oil industry ?

How can I know the range of process working to select proper size range of sensor ?

Once you identify the process conditions you need to monitor, you can simply visit the websites of instrument manufacturers like Siemens, Endress-Hauser, Emerson and the like. All provide guidance for which instruments are rated for various area classifications, processes, etc. Then you can contact their authorized distributors who should have competent representatives to help you identify the type of instrument, materials, ratings and so forth. I always like to get the vendor's or manufacturer's recommendation because there is always an opportunity for something to go wrong. If I make a mistake then I just have to deal with it. If it's their mistake, I usually have to deal with it then too, but at least I have somebody to complain to.

What are you trying to measure?
And, what sort of selection process are you talking about?

Vendor selection, design specifics, installations details, safety, electrical classification, process conditions, ambient conditions, G force considerations, technology options?

Your question is so generalized, there is really no answer to your question in a forum. You'll have to address those issues with your customer, and the suppliers in your area.

The best bet is run down to the nearest pub. Good luck!

Any instrument selections for either U/S or D/S are based on the process condition, including fluid type, flow, P&T, etc.
As you have these data, you may look at the Vendor's manual to select proper instrument as needed, or contact multiple Vendors for the competitive quotes for you to select.

Let me clarify more my point
When I select pressure gauge for given process the best advice to select gauge that the pointer of gauge must be at 1/3 of gauge to identify any upnormal process .


Now to select pressure ot temperature sensor to install at wellhead of oil industry or at process of same industry is there any technical advice follow same as gauge ,

I don't know of any requirements published in standards for range selection, but one rule of thumb is to select a range that has the minimum and maximum expected process values at 25 % and 75 % of the span respectively if possible. If better resolution is needed near the normal operating point than that would provide, you might have to specify two sensors, a narrow-range calibration sensor for operating point resolution and a wide-range calibration sensor to monitor values outside of the narrow operating range. Work with the process engineers to determine their requirements and obtain the process data you need to select the ranges.
