Can someone explain to me in simple terms how to do a 'composite' section through a press tool I have drawn up in MDT5. I have sussed the 'new view' and cutline sketch being in two pieces starting outside in then inside out but I need to cut across various portions to show different aspects of the tools operation.

Im quite new to this side of things, and tend not to build sub assemblies or full assemblies - I tend to (perhaps wrongly) just make new parts all the time in a massive tree and just manouver them into place as its good enough for what I need. Is this wrong? and why I cant get section views the way I want?

For example from middle of the bolster plate horizontal, onto half a screw/dowel hole then back a bit and along through a form stage etc, passing along the tool so in 'front view' of the eventual 2d drawing would show various important things simultaniously in one cross section. And is there a way to stop all the cross hatching going the same way! - bad practice in draughting, but this could be because I have built it wrong- how are you supposed to do a task like this?. Is this composite view capable of being done through multiple parts like I have made?

I tried a cutline sketch along the required path and it says it only expects two line segments or something, there are other types which ask for 'work planes' but these are singular in dimension arent they!. Does anyone know what Im on about??.

Thanks,

Sirius.
