I used an old model that I had to create a new template file and when starting a new drawing SE won’t find the file? I made sure the file location was looking for the file location but I’m not sure what is going on here, can anyone help?

While on one of our client's computers, I noticed the same problem you are having. The template folder located under program files contained all the templates one would expect, but the only templates that would show up in SE ST when we created a new part/assembly were the "sync" templates... I could not get the traditional templates to come up at all.

I ended up creating shortcuts to the template files on their desktop. This works for now, but a solution is definitely needed.

Thanks,

I can get around it but when I'm pulling in a conversion file I have to use one of the sync templates and the settings are all screwed up.

Easy fix.

Solid Edge Options,
User Profile (tab)
User type:
And switch it to sync and tradional.

To explain;

If it was a clean install it will only turn on the sync templates.

If you were upgrading from V20 it would turn on both.

Hope this helps.

one word of warning: if you have to run MakeVerCurr.exe
(it's located wthin SE's program folder) it will clear
all files (not folders) within the ..\template folder
and reinstall the standard templates as specified during
installation (ISO, ANSO, ...)!
So when you have your own templates it's not unwise to
put them into a separate folder of your choice and specify
that location within Application - Options - File locations
- User templates.
Creating a new file by using Application - New - < selection>
will only find templates that adhere to the new naming convention
(ansi part.part, ..) When 'User templates' is neither empty nor
points to the default location SE will not look into the default
location (C:\Program Files\Solid Edge ST\template\ )to find the
apropriate template. When using templates with old naming scheme
you have to select them manually: Application - LMB on New which
will show the 'old style' selection window

/Edit
forgotten to mention:
if you happen to have a modified Custom.xml DO NOT copy this and
thus replace the one that comes with ST. The ST version of this
file now has a new item <DrawingViewScales version="1">
which defines the scales to be used in connection with
the draft's views!
