Hi All,
I have a part created with associated drawing. I "save as copy" on both and are trying to rename both to new associative part numbers. Design assistant doesnt seem to be as intuitive as I'd like. Any thoughts? Thanks

There are lots of ways to do this. As you know copy in design assistant will allow you to create a copy and rename them then save. You could also do it manually like you currently do but remove the original named part from the project search path then resolve the link to the newly named file when you open the drawing. Or you can open the newly named drawing and replace the model reference to your new copy.

However the correct way, if you are not running Vault, is to use design assistant.

To use design assistant, close all files in Inventor, got to explorer and RMB on the drawing file (highest file in hierarchy, idw -> iam -> ipt) and select design assistant. Go to manage, select all files, action -> copy, rename then one at a time. You can also change the file path at the same time if you want them in a new folder.

You can also pack & go, then use DA just to rename all the files, instead of copy. This might be preferable with larger assemblies.
