"Locking" cells

Using Excel, is there any method of "locking" individual cells, but not the entire workbook?

I want our guys to be able to change data in some cells, but not allow them to "accidentally" erase the formulas in others.

Sure. All you have to do is protect the worksheet. First, you will have to change a property for the cells you want to let the user modify. For those cells, do a Format > Cells and go to the Protection tab. Uncheck the Locked option. Then, when you protect the worksheet (Tools > Protection > Protect Worksheet), the cells you changed will not be locked for user modification. All of your forumulas will be intact.

From the menu select Format, Cells, click the Protection tab, ticking the locked box will specify the cell(s) selected as locked. I suggest you lock all the cells then select the individual cells you want to unlock.

You can use styles and specify locked/unlocked cells for each style.

Remember, the cells won't actually be locked until you protect the sheet/workbook with Tools, Protection, Protect Sheet/Protect Workbook.
