PWHT And Welding

Is it at all possible for the electrical current induced during welding to affect the PWHT recorder / Chart if you weld one butt while doing PWHT on another butt on the same line. Say about 6 feet away?
My PWHT contractor has stated that this may be a problem. I myself have never heard of this being an issue.
