Property text

When there is no reference to property text-field it comes out with error: no reference. Is is possible to change/remove this default. I would like it so that the field is blank when there is no data and that it shows the the data when there is data.
Here is the property text: %{mat_std|R1}

You could put a space character in the file property instead of having nothing, or a "-" to show it's not defined.
