Based on conversations with the members here, I've got a follow up project to my alternate limit density method in mind.

The project involves having several independent labs test the limit density of sands using my method. At this time, I’d like to observe 1) how the limit densities of the labs obtained compare to one another, and 2) the cov between the different sands for each specimen using this method.

Based on some preliminary estimates, I think that about 4 hours of time will be involved in the work. A good, calibrated scale capable of measurements to 0.01g will be necessary. All other necessary items will be supplied, including sand specimens to use. I’d like to try to have about 5 different individuals, if possible.

As an initial poll, would anyone out there be interested in participating in this study?

Thanks!

jdonville,
Good point. I haven't explained very well what this is yet. Give me a little time and I'll get a little better description together on what the study would involve. Keep in mind too that this is just a preliminary check on who may be interested...

MRM,
Your preliminary check should include my lab.

I am the senior engineer for our company with 8 offices, I have some people, if not myself, that can do some field work and such. Lots of sand here in Florida, clean to slightly silty. Need that description, specs, and link though.

I'll get something posted soon concerning the scope of work. I've been busier than a one-legged man in an a$$ kicking contest here lately. Lots of end-of-the-summer work. It's always been our busiest time...
