Hi,

I am a Graduate student “ M.S mechanical Engineering” new to the field of Biomechanics in terms of Musculoskeletal parameters, Motion Analysis Data, for the parameters of the Musculoskeletal parameters literatures and studies done pretty good introducing and discussing the issues in the field on the other hand the Motion Analysis Data is a big issue for me and I can’t find enough resources to overcome the challenge that I am facing at the moment:

The Challenge:
I ‘m trying to use Opensim to simulate motion data that I am getting from the Biomechanics lab here at the university, they use Peak Motus 8.0 with one camera “ 2D” the data that I have is for three markers (ankle, Knee, hip), I already overcame that “Opensim is a 3D simulator” I got that under control but the problem is the data and how to transfer and translate these data to opensim, the thing is opensim uses or see only (.*trc, .*mot) files which they provide a matlab toolbox ( reads .*C3D and creates .*trc and .*mot) which bring me to a totally new world (( the ASCII )) world of format which I Know nothing about.

I tried to get C3D from Peak Motus but there is no way to do that since they are doing a 2D motion Trails.

Please if you can make any suggestion regarding the issue of obtaining .*trc and .*mot files from the ((( ASCII ))) I do really appreciate it since the purpose of this small study is to simulation to implement and define some Knee characteristics, not implementing and defining the ASCII codes knowledge or experience

I am trying to write a code with matlab to convert the ASCII to trc and mot but the path that I’m taking is time consuming and the simulation purpose is far away from that but anyway any advice regarding the ASCII and how matlab can read it would be appreciate it as well

Bless you All,

Sal
