Parts won't link to parts list

I'm creating a fairly large draft with lots of exploded views. However some of my parts won't link to the parts list. The parts in question are visible in the exploded view, along with other parts that are linked to the parts list. If I go to Properties -> Display for that view, they're listed there as well.

The parts do not show up in Properties -> List Control for the parts list. When I try to balloon the items and link them to the parts list, they show up as NA. How can I get these parts to link to the parts list?

Check in the model that the 'occurrence properties' haven't been set to not show in reports, or whatever the terminology is.

Also check if they're actually part of a sub assy.
