Died on Sunday at age 82. One of the greats of jazz piano, and one of my favorites.

Oscar's music has been with me for many decades. There was a guy on my dorm floor in freshman year who introduced me to Oscar Peterson and the sound of the jazz trio/quartet. I saw OP on year with Ella Fritzgerald and Count Basie - it was great! His albums "The Sound of the Trio", "Night Train", and "West Side Story" were on my record player many times.

Apparently there are a few good you-tube videos of his playing. . . .

A formidable pianist indeed, very, very swinging, his renditions of the standards were exceptional.
'We get requests' one of my favourite albums.
