Hi,

Does anyone know of an equation to calculate the diameter of an orifice in a thin-edged orifice plate for a particular K-value (loss coefficient)? In particular, for water or slurry duties.

Thanks in advance,

A thin edge orifice plate is a poor choice for slurry duty.

You can load down calculation programs for free both for single orifice (blende) and multi orifice (lochblende) plates from the source below, with full background for calculation formula and data, but unfortunately only in the german language, and for water....

go to then select english, downloads and calculation programs.

You might consider a wedge meter for your slurry service application. It is more suited to these parameters than a traditional dp device. There are several reputable supplers available.

Listen to Zapster if your slurry has any abrasive tendency at all.

Good luck,
