i dont know if i am even in the right place but i am hoping someone out there can help me or advise me....i bought a piece of property almost 15 yrs ago....just shy of 4 acres....at the time it passed the perc test....now that we are ready to build....they are saying it did not pass the perc test....i am assuming that means that we need to have an engineered system....am i right?....in other words we need curtain drains right?....if we put the curtain drains in now....fall time....can they still refuse us?....we are in new england if that helps....litchfield county....if there is anyone out there who can guide me or point me in the right direction i would greatly appreciate it....thank you....

i did a search for failed perc tests bimr and nothing came up so i posted it....

I assume your curtain drain is being considered because you have shallow groundwater levels which will interfere with the ability to leach from a proposed septic system? Apparently when conducting the perc test, I am guessing that you hit groundwater? If so, then you will might need a curtain drain or mound system, and yes you should consult with an engineer to determine what is needed and to design it.

What does your town say? Some places do not allow mound systems, some places do not allow you to excavate rock. Without knowing what your regulatory constraints are, it's hard to give you any help.
Are you using an architect? An engineer? Usually, they nkow what the perc requirements are and what your options are.
