Hi All,

I'm searching for a formula to create the nozzle separation chart on the pressure vessel.
I would be glad if you share your experience.

Thanks.

Please explain "the nozzle separation chart " . I heard this for the first time.

I've attached sample separation chart as a reference. Basically it is the calculation of limit spacing in clusters of two or more nozzles which reinforcement calculations would not be necessary. It is necessary for us to attach the chart when we submit for design registration.

Presumable the separation is the total of one-half of each nozzles' limit of reinforcement plus a little.

Recommend you ask the guy that made the chart.

Regards,

Mike

Nay....

The ancient "Piping Fabrication Institute" addressed this specific issue for welded nozzles on piping systems.

The document is ES-7......

Hi MJ,

Thanks for your info. My only concern is does it comply with ASME Section VIII, Div-1 because I'm going to use it in Pressure Vessel.
Mean while I'll search the document ES-7.

There is no such requirement in ASME VIII D.1, seems to be a specification by a client intended to insure there is sufficient room around process and instrumentation nozzles.
The requirement per VIII D.1 is only concerning the opening reinforcement, where the minimum spacing is specified or results from the calculation. These minimum spacings are generally quite smaller than those required by your document.

Thank you all. I appreciated for your time and professional opinion.
I'll do my part to find out the right formula & let you all know the results.

Make graphs of the chart and do regression analysis from graphs as one option.
