Ladies & Gentlemen

I am at my wits end. I have searched the Internet to no avail. Please help.

Needed: An AutoCAD DFX Export or Conversion Program

That Will: Export/Convert everything in the drawing to a
No-Fill Outline DXF file with true lines,
circles and arcs (not a million piece outline
as you get with a .PLT or .DXB file)

Regardless: of the entities used in the drawing.
This means lines beget lines, polylines with
width beget an outline of that polyline,
circles beget circles, donuts with no hole
beget circles, donuts with holes beget a circle
within a circle, an outline with a solid fill
begets the outline, text using .SHX fonts beget
a true outline of the .SHX font, text using
.TTF fonts beget a true outline of the .TTF
(remember No-Fills) etc...
At this point I hope you get the idea.

Usage: My primary purpose for this file is to import the
Outline Geometry into SolidWorks. I have tried
the .PLT file out and convert to .DXF with some
success but this creates to many tiny lines and is
cumbersome to work with The same goes for the DXBOUT.

Questions: 1. Is there an existing program that will do
this.
2. Is there a programming genius out there that
can write such a program I don't think I am
the only one out here looking for such a
utility.
3. Is there any other "clean" way to get from
there to where I want to go without jumping
through allot of hoops.

Thank You for listening to the ramblings of a mad man.

If you are using AutoCAD and saving the file as a DXF, what about it do you not like exactly?

When importing the DXF file into SolidWorks neither SHX nor TTF fonts showed up. The donut only shows up as a single circle of the outside diameter only. The polyline with width showed up as a single line not a rectangular outline of the polyline which I would logicly expect. I'm looking for extrudable geometry I can work with, with little or no fuss.

Thank You for your response

Yes I have exported as WMF. When importing back into AutoCAD and then exploding, the geometry is made up of alot of line segments just like a DXB or HPGL file. This is what I am wanting to avoid. Also, SolidWorks will only insert the WMF file as a graphic not as geometry.

Thank You for your response.
