I have a 24 cell wet-cell nicad of unknown manufacture which has been stored with the cells empty and a shunt across the output. I now have a need for it.
My problem is the electrolyte. I think that the mix is about 70% disstilled water and 30% potassium hydroxide. But, from what I can find out, there is a small percentage of lithium hydroxide added to preserve the positive plates, this is my sticker. I cannot find out an aproximation for the amount of lithium hydroxide. Manufactures will not comment, and I can understand why. Liability etc.
I have the chemicals on hand (reagent grade) and understand the mixing and safty emvolved.
Would love some help.
I saw and early question about the mineral oil covering the nicad electrolyte. The main reason for this it prevent the absorbtiom of carbon dioxide from contact with air and forming carbonates. slowly ruins electrolye.
