Heading out to the NASCC in San Antonio this week. This will be the first time since 2001 that we have attended. For those of you in the Steel Construction business, this is a good way to get all of your cont. ed hours taken care of in just a few days at the convention. Usually good speakers as well as interesting exibits.

Anything worth mentioning that came out of the conference.

The main focus was the new manual with ASD & LRFD side by side. Heavy on the seismic discussion. The new manual is gonna cost $395 for non members or $175 for members. Minimum weld sizes will now be based on the thinner of the joined pieces rather than the thicker as it has been forever. Some eccentricity issues with shear tabs and extended shear tabs. There was discussion on connection design when the design drawings call for an R>3 or if in Category D or better.

That's interesting.
