When calculating flat circular plates of constant thickness as shown by Roark, which case is used for shock absorber shim stacks?
1. Uniform Load - Outer edge free, inner edge simply supported.
2. Uniform Load - Outer edge free, inner edge fixed.
3. Linearly Increasing Load - Outer edge free, inner edge simply supported.
4. Linearly Increasing Load - Outer edge free, inner edge fixed.
5. Parabolically Increasing Load - Outer edge free, inner edge simply supported.
6. Parabolically Increasing Load - Outer edge free, inner edge fixed.
I cannot determine which to use due to clamp force when assembled, effects of friction with adjacent shims and the effect of the top plate (washer).
Any help would be appreciated.
