Hello,
I'm trying to model a wind turbine foundation using Staad Pro V8i. In general I'm using a solid model and getting reasonable results.
My question is how to model the anchor bolts and tower plate accurately. The bolts are modelled as beam members, but I need them to be debonded from the concrete (solid) but still restrained laterally - Can I create a void in the solid?
The tower plate sitting on top of the concrete should be able to lift off, so that any tension is transferred through the bolts - is there a way to make the plate/solid connectivity compression only? Or, can I create a 'compression only' solid to fill a small gap between the plate and the concrete?
I've attached a document which explains what I'm trying to achieve - see my notes on page 6.
Any advice will be appreciated.
