I have just installed SW2005 and a strange problem has developed. When I use the 'make drawing' icon, as I have been doing in all previous releases, the template loads but all the linked annotation has disappeared. If I open the template from windows explorer all the annotation links are there. If I put a part into the sheet, the annotation vanishes, except for my name. I have tried this with old parts that have been detailed successfully as well as new parts and assemblies. The file location for document templates is correct. My model and assembly templates load from this same location with no problems.

One other issue, the company logo has four letters on a single line. When I open the template it is three letters above a single letter and it can not be edited.

These issues occur in all three drawing sizes.

I have tried to resave the drawing template but the problem with the annotation is still there.

I looked through the FAQ's and did not see anything releted to this. Does anyone have any idea as to the problem?

What about under Default Templates Is that location right?

Otherwise call your VAR, because you will need to probably send your files into them for review. A SW RX would probably be good to make for them too. Start\Programs\Solidworks 2005\Solidworks tools\Solidworks RX.

Yes, the default file locations are the ame as they were prior to the installation of 2005.

You have "file locations" and "default templates" as Scott mentioned. Make sure they are BOTH correct.

Otherwise trying runnning a repair on SW. If the templates are not corrupted or if they are the correct ones. SW05 will not change them. You will need to contact your VAR on this issue as you will need more support then you will get from here on this issue, I think.

This is pretty serious allegations about SW05 and should be looked at by your VAR.

Hi gmarken,

Im having the same sort of trouble with SW05 as you. Currently i can only open a part template and part drawings. Assembly and drawing templates will not work and if you try to open either one off those from saved backs it says that it can not recognise the file.

Have you managed to find out what the problem was with your system and if so could yo post back any helpfull information.

Thanks..

Good Morning,

I have solved the issue with the templates vs sheet formats.
The formats were corrupted (logo was altered). These I had to delete the logo and insert new text and save them as formats. As far as the document properties associated with my part templates, I had to re-enter all of the information links in the custom properties dialog box (drawn by, date, eco, etc).

In 2004 even if there was no information entered in the properties for the part, you could still edit the title block via edit sheet format. As it stands now if there are no properties entered, and you go to edit sheet the text fields are not visible. I guess this is just how 2005 operates.

I also had a serious problem with the system locking up and getting the unhandled error message. I reloaded 2005 and tried several different drivers for my Nvidea video card. An earlier revision corrected this issue.
