Does anybody know how to dimension to the maxium edge of a circle instead of the center? There used to be a command for it in the more properties section of SW2006 but it doesn't appear to be there in '07.

First dimension the part e.g. from an edge to the circle - be sure to select the circle and not the centre point/centre mark.

Then right-click the dimension, and choose properties. There is an option near the bottom of the box that allows you to select CENTRE/MIN/MAX arc condition.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Alternatively you can hold "shift" and dim the circle and it will automatically use the min or max condition depending on where you pick the circle.

Can that be done when dimensioning a circle to a point rather than a line?

Yeah, seems to work fine for me, as long as you are not selecting a "point" on the circle or the centre point of the circle

You can only pick min/center/max if you pick the edge of the circle, not the center point of it.

I meant dimensioning the circle to a point, rather than a point on the circle to something.

vacuumdesigner, did you try our suggestions?

I did, and if i'm dimensions a circle to a line or other feature they work fine, but if i'm trying to dimension to the endpoint of a line SW will only let me dimenion from the center of the circle to that point, rather than the nearest or farthest edge of the circle to that point.
