Mating a point to a curve

Im trying to mate two parts within an assembly, one is a weld torch, the other a part with a complex 3d surface. I have created a composite curve on the surface that represents the weld path. Ive drawn a point on the end of the torch and I am trying to mate this point to the curve.
No luck so far, any tips?

I don't think you can mate to a curve feature/entity. However, you can create a 3D sketch and use Convert Entities to convert your curve to a 3D spline. Then you can mate your point to the sketch spline.

I think handleman has it right. Also, '08 has a path mate that you can use once you follow his advise.

Handleman, I kept wrestling with it and I eventually did exactly as you said. One thing that I did learn was that the path must be perfectly smooth with no interruptions(i.e. spline) to mate a point to it. If you make your curve from two tangent arcs it wont want to mate a point to it.

Dan - I will have to check out the path mate, hadnt seen that yet. Looks like it has a lot of functionality - roll, pitch, etc.
