hi, i'm looking for some help with material selection.
i'm designing a part for a grip that would be used in tensile testing.
it would be testing rubber and at room temps and the most important factors are weight (due to the multiple frequencices the machine can operate) and rigidity (to withstand the vertical forces)
at the moment, i have been looking at titanium and magnesium alloys but these can be relatively expensive especially titanium when compared to aluminium
the mechanism to hold the test piece is through pneumatics which should not need to exceed 6 bar however the piece will have forces of up to 10kN
many thanks bearing in mind this is my first post
