The application is a thermowell (small, solid metal, pressure containing. Cost is always an issue, of course, but it is not the overriding issue, since the component is small. "Small" being a couple of metres long, a few inches wide.
The service environment is 30% HCL with Aluminum hydroxide and water, at 150 to 200C, under pressure (perhaps up to 200psi). There would be moderate abrasion, not mechanical wear.
I'm looking for a material for either overall construction (could be machined or welded) or for impermeable coating to resist corrosion in this environment.
At this point I'm just passing on suggestions to the end user engineering group to look at for final specification.
I've been wondering about Hastelloy B, but I've noted that it is sensitive to trace "contaminants" and I've reached the limit of my chemistry here.
