Making Contact for Drawing Work

I have become self employed to earn some extra money on top of my Salaried 'day job'. I am interested in doing drafting work and would like advice on how best to solicit business.
The 'challenge' is that although I have advised my manager of my extra activities, I cannot approach people in the industry that I am working in (the UK is quite small), so any work I get would have to be from a totally new contact. I plan to carry out drafting/design/layouts etc of a mech eng bias and to charge approx £25/hour-this may seem high but I have used AutoCAD for over 8years and thus very productive.
Does anyone out there have any ideas/experience on the best way to solicit business - mail shots, [cold] calls, web-site?

You may even broaden your ability to produce extra income. In your case, you're expert in Autocad. Well, you could set up a website and include a portfolio of your work thereby establishing your expertise to the website visitors. Then offer to sell your services. For example, on one page you could offer to train on a given saturday Autocad drafting and limit the class to 6 people. On another web page, you can target mid-size companies that is looking for temporary help in drafting during their busy spurts-of course at your available time but within their deadline.

You may also contact architectural and drafting colleges and see if they hire tutors in the evenings during school semester.

The ideas are limitless-any one who is end user of plans is your prospective customer.
