Good morning,

I am struggling to calculate the heat transfer coefficient occuring during the two phases related to the vapor quality but I am still in troubles. Can you suggest a feasible correlation for LNG?

Thank you in advance,

Michele

So my question is what type of heat transfer coefficient (conductive or convective) are you requesting? Where do you intend to apply the heat transfer coefficient ( storage tank or piping)? Is the heat transfer coefficient to be for indoor, outdoor or for buried or encapsulated piping? Also what do you mean by feasible correlation?

LNG vaporisation or condensation? LNG would behave no different from any other fluid, so find the relevant htc in your Uni heat transfer text. Pls note LNG is a multicomponent fluid; the duty curve ( Q vs T) would be nonlinear, so it is best to get this done on a process simulator if you are planning to use a regular shell and tube.

With most 2 phase fluids there is the possibility of chf critical heat flux, so such correlations need to be ascertained for LNG. Other issues may include the concentrations of impurities at the boil out points , and some accidents had occurred in australia when mercury concentrated on some aluminum HX components.
