Linking Model and BOQ data to sketched symbol - Multiple parts

Hi

Using Inventor 2008

Defining text type as "Properties - Models" provides the functionality to link Part properties (i.e. material, mass, description etc.) to a sketched symbol. This however only appears to function correctly if one part is detailed per drawing sheet. On sheets were multiple parts are detailed the information refers to the part first inserted on the sheet unless it is linked using a leader. Deleting the leader causes the information to revert back to the default part data. Any suggestions as to how to hide the leader or another means of keeping the correct link?

Secondly where can I link the data to the model BOQ to obtain data such as “QTY” and “item nr”?

Regards

When you place the symbol, RMB your sketch symbol, select symbol, then select leader but uncheck visible.

You can't get some properties like item number in sketches. Autodesk don't seem to want to make it available.. Been on wish list as long as I can remember.

Hi EngAddict

Thanks for the replay. Missed this function. I cannot remember this functionality being in older versions of Inventor and have been getting used to adding symbols without looking at what can be done to the symbol once inserted.

has been round as long as i have been using. i scale a lot of mine and have structural view labels attached w/o leader so use it a lot.
