In the office we use an analysis package called FS2000 for general frame analysis. We also have license for STAAD.
One of the useful features of FS2000 is that you can set up your model, run the analysis, then get software to amend the model geometry, section size, delete members, add in extra members, supports etc, continue running the analysis, delete a few extra members, put in some new ones etc etc. All within the same model and the same analysis run.
We use it for looking at construction cases where they may be extra (or less) members and then for looking at final cases with all permanent members in place.
Is it possible to do something similar in STAAD?
