I work with SE V20 and i want to install SE ST2. I want to keep SE V20 because I'm going to need to look my drawings make with SE V20. Is it possible to install 2 versions of SE on the same computer? I found a way to do it:
but I do not know how to apply this solution.

Help me please and thank you

Take care you don't open ANY v20 files in ST2, otherwise you may not be able to open them again in V20.

Are you keeping V20 to actually work on the files or just to view them?

I want to work with SE ST2 but I need to keep SE V20 for cheking my old drawing.

From what I can remember, it was useful to be able to work with two different version on the same computer but after a couple of weeks I really got tired of having to switch back and forth between version and constantly making sure I don't open files with the wrong version. So I finally made the jump to the new version and never looked back.

Why exactly will you still use V20 for? Because if it's only for opening drawings made with a previous release you should not worry about upgrading. But if it's because you want to test it to see if you're going to like the new interface then you may have a good reason. I still think there are some improvement in ST2 worth switching for though.(And it's not the interface :)

We just moved from v20 to ST2 and its definitely worth the upgrade.
Performance is better and there are some things like the parts list improvements that make it so much better.
As for the interface, the other users here seem to have adapted pretty well, much better than I did when I went from V20 to ST1 at a previous company.
To me this shows that the interface is much improved in ST2.
Configuring the QAT is so much better in ST2 and I haven't really noticed the switch from V20 this time round.
As Pat points out, you do not need to keep V20 just for looking at drawings that were ceated in V20.

Working with two versions does sound like a recipe for at least serious inconvenience if not disaster. I think I would rather save those files out and bring them in to the newer version leaving the originals where they were if I felt I had to refer back to them. For those of you who are still on V20 and have access to ST3 I would never pause at ST2. You are going to have to learn a different work flow again from ST2 to 3 so why not do it just once and go to V3. If you think moving from V20 to ST2 is beneficial when you get your hands on ST3 you are really going to see beneficial. I know, early adoption can bring it's share of problems at times but in use of ST3 I can only say I have found none and I believe that with ST3 you now have the last of the really big changes required to make ST into a daily user of real benefit. I expect that Siemens will not do any more huge changes to the GUI after ST3 and what you will learn here will be with you for some time as the GUI is not going to significantly change again any time soon.

How right you are lapuser - someone just tried it here because they didn't want to change mid-project, but its taken about a week to screw up by opening some of the in ST2. Now they have to go to ST2 like everyone else.
However, we did take a copy of our project before the changeover - just in case we hit any problems.
