G'day,

I would like to insert formatted text (tabbed, lines, etc) into a dwg. I would prefer it if it could be done directly from word as it is a parts reference table that I would like to insert.

I can recall having done this in the past, but I can't for the life of me remember how.

Any suggestions that don't involve writing lisp, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Hi sc,

use control+c, and control+v -> yoe will get an Ole-objekt

Is that, what you mean?

Thanks Lothar,

I have used this method but have found that the quality of the pasted object is fairly ordinary when it comes to printing.

From what I can recall the method I used involved creating a table (in either word or excel) and then inserting it via a lisp routine that gave it fairly high quality text alignment.

I have just tried the OLE insert from an excel file, whilst this doesn't give brilliant quality it is better than ctrl v.

Thanks

SC,

you will get a more high-grade plotquality with
options -> plot -> Ole plotquality -> best quality / high-grade Photo.

Maybe it works...???

Have you tried to "save as" in the word document as a "Rich text format" then use the multi text command to import the text as rich text into the cad drawing.

Thanks folks.

I have followed Lothars advice and found that it gives the quality I want.

For those that are still with us, or who get here via the Keyword Search feature: There is a FREE utility for putting Excel data into ACAD drawing entities. I found it in thread770-43557, and it works very well for a FREE utility. It's FREE, too.

There is a LISP routine called ASCTEXT, search for ASCTEXT.LSP using Google if you don't have a copy of it. This routine may have problems with tabs, I haven't used it in a long time, and recall that tabs were displayed as little squares in the text.

Hope this helps.
