If you have a flexible diaphragm do you need to consider inherent torsional moment? I am looking for clarification of ASCE7-05, Section 12.8.4.1.

I believe the answer is NO. A flexible diaphragm does not act as a rigid body to transfer the torsional moment as shears into the lateral frames. Although if you run a computer analysis with a bare metal deck you will find that it has some stiffness based on which it will distribute torsion just like a rigid diaphragm would.
